Center.  11/8/10: Site preparation  10/13/10: Ground breaking ceremony for the new rec center!  10/7/10: Blue Heron Rec Center Building Permit OK'd The building permit for the new Blue Heron Recreation Center was signed off and approved last Friday, October 1,2010, about six weeks after the application had been submitted. Groundbreaking ceremonies will occur on Wednesday, October 13, at noon at the Blue Heron rec center site. It is expected that excavation and construction will begin shortly thereafter . The building committee is meeting again on Wednesday, October 13, to finalize plans and go over details for the mechanical, electrical, and interior of the building. Once this is done, a completion date can be set, expected to be March-April 2011, depending on weather this fall and winter. Progress reports and photos will be posted on the Blue Heron website. 8/6/10: Update on Facilities The entire facility, except for the recreation center and the hot-tub spa, are open and are in top condition. The Pool is warm and inviting. The recently reconstructed Sport Courts are a great place for a variety of racket sports. A temporary recreation center has foosball, mini ping pong, TV with a Wii set as well as pop machine, restroom and other table games. The day-use Dock is actively being used by swimmers and boaters. The 400 foot waterfront beach, dock and grounds are as beautiful as ever. Plans have been submitted to the county for approval to rebuild the recreation center and spa. Construction is expected to start after Labor Day 2010 and we hope for completion by the end of March, 2011. The new plans are an exciting upgrade from what we had before.
