"On Tuesday, September 1, the Blue Heron Recreation Center was destroyed by fire early in the morning. No one was injured and the origin appears to be a heater in the men's sauna. The fire fighters and staff performed admirably, and none of rest of the facilities was damaged in any way. Plans are developing already to rebuild the center, and options are being investigated to provide some of the lost amenities on a temporary basis. The entire facility, except for the recreation center, the spa, and the pool remain open and are in top condition. The 400 foot waterfront beach is as beautiful as ever."
